The KISS Method

"We are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act but a habit" - Aristotle

What is a habit?

A habit is a set of actions that has become automatic, thus requiring little energy or effort.

In the last post I talked about training consistency. While regular exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, if you are a beginner, how do you create a consistent training practice?

Take a page out of the Michael Scott playbook and apply The KISS Method

Incorporate The KISS Method for Optimal Fitness

While you may be eager to jump into an advanced training program, it is important to not let your early motivation get the best of you. Sometimes enthusiasm makes us overestimate our abilities. In training, this could lead to not following through with the program or, even worse, lead to injuries.

Starting slowly -- especially if you are just starting out -- gives you a better chance to stick with your program. When you are consistent, you are more likely to see results; and when you start seeing results, you'll stick with the program to keep the progress going. We want to make this positive feedback loop happen as fast as possible.

At Project Athlete, we coach to the individual athlete and don't give someone more than they can handle. Especially with our youth athletes, we coach foundational movements to bodyweight mastery first and then will progress based on the athlete.

If you are interested in learning more about how you or your athlete can create a better training routine for your needs let us know and we can set up a training evaluation with one of us
